Inauguration of Ma Sarada Dham at Mother’s House, Baghbazar

The newly constructed Ma Sarada Dham, an annex building of Mother’s House at Ramakrishna Math, Baghbazar, Kolkata, was formally inaugurated on 29 November 2025, on the auspicious occasion of the Subha Janmatithi of Swami Premanandaji Maharaj. The solemn and spiritually uplifting ceremony was performed by the Most Revered Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

The foundation stone of the multipurpose G+5 building was laid on 6 May 2022, on the occasion of Sri Shankara Panchami Tithi, by the Most Revered Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, the then President of the Order.

The inauguration was held in the august presence of Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. The event was also graced by Smt. Dr. Shashi Panja, Cabinet Minister for Commerce & Industries and Women & Child Development, Government of West Bengal, and Janab Firhad Hakim, Minister-in-Charge of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs and Mayor of Kolkata.

Following the inauguration, a public meeting was held at Saradananda Hall. The Most Revered President Maharaj and the General Secretary Maharaj delivered addresses, while Swami Nityamuktananda, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math, Baghbazar, delivered the welcome address and outlined the chronological development of Mother’s House leading to the construction of the new building.

The Ma Sarada Dham has been designed to strengthen the residential, spiritual and service activities of the Math. The G+5 annex building houses essential facilities, including a modern kitchen, store, dining halls for devotees and monks, residential quarters for monks, and a dedicated hall for spiritual initiation.

The Most Revered President Maharaj and the General Secretary Maharaj also formally released two publications, Premananda Jivancharit and Swami Premananda Patrasamgraha.

The celebrations included a Sadhu Bhandara, in which approximately 380 sadhus from various centres of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission participated. On the following day, the Most Revered President Maharaj imparted spiritual initiation to 76 young candidates.
